Tuberous Breast Correction

Tuberous breast correction is a surgical procedure used to improve the appearance and function of tuberous breasts. The procedure typically involves the release of the tightened breast tissue, the repositioning of the nipple and areola, and the addition of volume to the breast.

Tuberous Breast Correction in NJ and NYPlastic surgery for breasts is on the rise in the United States. Breast enlargement surgery and breast lift surgeries are in high demand. You can work out, keep trim and take great care of yourself. But the aesthetic look of your breasts still has a direct relationship to your self-image and self-confidence. Flawed breasts are easily noticeable as:

  • Breast hypoplasia or small, underdeveloped breasts
  • An excessive gap between your breasts
  • Very little breast base tissue in one or both breasts
  • Your breast crease, called the inframammary fold, is either too high or too tight
  • Your breasts look uneven or misshapen
  • Your breasts are thin, pointy or saggy
  • There’s a breast constriction that makes the breast appear abnormal

Breast asymmetry problems are common. But these problems can be addressed with the advancements in cosmetic surgery when you visit Rowe Plastic Surgery > in Manhattan, Long Island, New Jersey and the Hamptons. Even women with tuberous breasts can take hope from corrective cosmetic surgeries. While this condition poses no health risks, tuberous breasts can have a negative impact, both physically and psychologically.

What Are Tuberous Breasts?

Tuberous breasts, also known as tubular breasts, come from a congenital deformity. If you have tuberous breasts, your bust didn’t fully develop during puberty. As a result, the shape of your breasts become conical with a tapering, constricted base and often with prominent, large, puffy nipples and areola.

The condition can affect either one or both breasts, but it’s more common when both breasts are underdeveloped or misshapen. Other facts about tuberous breasts include:

  • The main cause for the tuberous breasts is still unknown.
  • Tuberous breasts may be due to a condition while in the womb.
  • The breast condition isn’t hereditary, so it doesn’t run in families.
  • Men too can suffer from tuberous breasts; it’s an unusual form of gynecomastia.
  • Some women with tuberous breasts can’t breastfeed since the malformed connective tissues interfere with milk production.
  • You can’t know if you have the condition until you reach puberty.
  • Young women are often deeply scarred by tuberous breasts. They feel ashamed, which prevents them from seeking tuberous breast correction procedures early on.

What Treatments Can Correct My Tuberous Breasts?

Getting surgery may seem like a daunting experience. A temporary non-surgical solution is possible by wearing specialized bras that help to even out the asymmetry and cover up other minor breast defects. But that does nothing to hide malformed breasts during intimacy, hampering relationships from puberty onward.

For a more permanent solution, surgery is the best and only option. The two most common types of tuberous breast correction surgeries involve:

  1. Breast augmentation using implants. Inserting implants to change the size and shape of your breasts is an effective surgical solution. Gummy bear implants are more expensive, but they offer a more natural look and feel over saline implants. Expect to pay about $2,000 over the normal price of saline implants.
  2. Fat transfer breast augmentation. is a newer technique that can fix your tuberous breasts without using implants. Instead, fat is grafted from another part of your body using liposuction, and then the purified fat is injected into your breasts for enviable feminine curves. The procedure can cost between $5,000 and $15,000, but it’s a natural solution.

The total cost of the tuberous breast correction can go up or down, depending on many factors. You may need additional surgeries, such as a breast lift with implants. But you always need some type of surgery; it’s the only way to address tuberous breasts.

What Happens After Tuberous Breast Correction?

Your recovery phase can last a week or even a month, depending on the procedures performed, the extensive nature of your surgery, your age and your overall health. Once you’ve healed from the surgery, you’ll be able to breastfeed normally. The surgery cuts through the constricted tissues in your breasts, which frees up sufficient room for the milk ducts to expand and swell with milk, when needed.

By going through a tuberous breast correction, you may feel more like a woman. Other advantages of a successful surgery include:

  • You’re rightfully more confident about your body.
  • You feel more attractive.
  • Your breasts look more naturally round and full.
  • The problem of breast asymmetry disappears.

Why Do I Need a Top-Notch Plastic Surgeon?

Tuberous breast correction can be a challenging surgery. You need to find the best breast surgeon you can, like the ones at Rowe Plastic Surgery, to do the procedure because:

  • There are four types of tuberous breasts, based on how much or how little the connective tissues have developed.
  • Type II tuberous breasts are the most common, while Type III and Type IV are considered extreme cases where there are severe breast deficiencies with a minimal breast tissue base.
  • Your surgeon needs to understand the severity of the connective tissue malformations.
  • Each type of tuberous breasts requires different methods of treatment and correction.
  • Some decisions involve choosing either round or teardrop implants.
  • You may need a procedure similar to the one that addresses for saggy breasts, meaning they may require a lift with the implants.
  • You may even need breast reduction surgery.
  • The tuberous breast correction can also include nipple reconstruction and correctionnipple reduction or areola reduction.

When shopping for your plastic surgeon, remember that:

  • A breast examination can be a very personal experience. It requires you to feel safe and completely at ease with your surgeon.
  • Board certified plastic surgeons usually have years of experience before sitting for the American Society of Plastic Surgery exams. Also, the certification usually requires continual education in the latest techniques and equipment.
  • Look into the qualifications and hospital affiliations, which show the doctor as a trusted member of the local medical community.
  • Check out the before and after photographs of previous surgeries. The ones that show patients facing straight ahead are best as they give a more realistic picture.
  • Read patient reviews, especially those for tuberous breast surgeries, as the procedure is difficult and requires someone with finesse and skill.

Does Insurance Cover the Tuberous Breast Correction?

Money is often a big concern whenever you’re thinking of plastic surgery. Unfortunately, since tuberous breasts aren’t considered a medical condition, most insurance policies don’t cover this surgery. Sometimes, you can get limited coverage for a post-operative stay or for medication. Checking with your insurance company beforehand is the best way to positively know where you stand. If money is an obstacle for getting tuberous breast correction:

  • Ask your plastic surgeon about available financial aid or payment plans. Many surgeons have some form of flexible monthly installment packages to help you.
  • Some surgical practices have partnered with leading financial institutions to offer loans at competitive rates.
  • You can always save up for the procedure.
